"Monopoly Wives"For the last months MCS has dominated our lives. As we build, bargain, and buy our way to glory and global domination,our poor spouses/partners/families have had to hear all about it. Our family, and friends are all sick of hearing about what streets we own, what our standings are, etc...We invite you all, to share your views, if you can get away from building for a second. How has this has effected / impacted your lives.
Common phrases heard around the house. "thats all you do" or "you stayed up til dawn again !" even, "you like that game more than your family" of course the answer to all this is "Its only till December, oh and by the way if it ends Dec 31st, Im staying home new years eve to play Monopoly" . Let's made the first post a monument to a great wife. In all this days(and nights) my wife always maintain a happy spirit, asking me how the business are going, if everything is well. I believe that the game she plays all the time on the notebook helps a little...
ReplyDeleteDoes anyone know wha the end date for this game is? I've heard the 16th of december and the 31st of december....
ReplyDeleteJan 31st, 2010, is the "Official" end date, but Eric, aka, Erica, says different. I invited him/her to post any references to an earlier date... So far, nada.
ReplyDeleteIt says sometime in December on the Faq now, but doesn't give a specific date within December...

This game is addictive, that is for sure, but also the most poorly run game I have ever played.

I'm terrified on what I saw. EIGHT COMMENTS and not a word about the poor wives. Are all of you unmarried? Hope so, because if your wives find this post and see what you wrote, better get a lawyer...

Maaaaybe I am a bit unfair... 11 searches on 9 computers at once.... Son complaining too.
Now my 7 y/o just learned how to read. Now she's even fussing about what I type in and or read. Ugggh what a fast learner....

Also, I'm having an everything-must-go auction with 12 streets ranging from 10M to 37M. All but 3 streets are developed to over 1B in rent. So far, only 5 streets bidded on. Auction ends 1 hour. after paytime today. That's in 3 hours! Account Name: COELROM
As for the OP, my girlfriend doesn't really care how much time I spend on the game. She quit a while ago out of boredom. However, we did get into a huge fight when she sabotaged my streets a couple months ago.

Heh, my wife hates all games equally, so this one is no different, other than I can walk away for a while then come back to it :)
ReplyDeleteToday I had a stroke of the weirdest luck ever.
I had a guy offer me a bid for a street (Not unusual, I get them all the time, mostly lowball bids). He offered no cash, but 9 streets. I began checking them out, as I do all bids, expecting 1-2m streets. What made me check was the offer was worth 179 Billion! So, I began checking the streets out, one by one.... 22m base, 21m base, 16m base, a few 10m base, on down to 1 6.6m base! All this for a 14m base street, WITH hazards!
I'm like, huh, this is odd... Then I checked his score. It was negative. I then realized he was quitting the game, and gave me everything he had. I accepted the offer.
I won't mention the account name, but I thank you VERY VERY VERY VERY much if you are reading this!

ReplyDeleteCongrats! You got quite the deal there. To put it into perspective, I originally bought that street from Mario's auction for 20B, and when I owned it, I kept get offers from other players, of which the highest was over 30B (29B cash + a street).
