Waiting for MCS

Where oh where has our Monopoly gone. The Hasbro information vacuum continues, and the lack of news or announcements make us wonder if we'll ever see the game again.

The following article was recently refered to on Market Poly from this German web site
We've translated it for you below.

More than five million on-line players found this autumn the way in the Browser game Monopoly city Streets. At the beginning of the month operator Hasbro finished the play events suddenly and left behind thousands of disappointed players.
Hasbro has not conceded only three-month lifetime - any more to the browser play. Enthusiastically millions monopolists rushed at the beginning of September in persistente Browsergame Monopoly city Streets. About Google Maps users could buy every street of the world and fill with houses. Originally the play had been begun only for advertising purposes and thus it is not surprising that the play has come to an end few days ago. The free Browser game should promote only the new board play and disposed of no draught to finance itself.
Now operator Hasbro clarified, the play remains off-line. The unexpected bugs and problems which walked along with the exessive use are too extensive. A bright spot remains: Should a Micro Payment system on the legs be put and the problems from the test be repaired, nothing more is in way of a new Monopoly play on the Internet.

Game Follow Up

The game has ended, and we drift back into the daily grind, Hasbro may come back with this game in some form, but it won't be the same as this first round. It was an adventure, never certain where it was headed.  We built up streets after searching them out tirelesly, saw them attacked, then sadly sold them off,or rebuilt them as we could. This game was fun, searching for streets was an unexpected adventure.

The art on this blog

The pictures above are some of the 3d schematics of buildings from the Columbian Exposition of 1893. All were created in the Lightwave 3d program which I use as a freelance artist and teacher. My interest in the Columbian Exposition started after reading the book Devil in the White City, which I highly recommend, its a great read. I undertook the building of the "Court of Honor" a small section of the massive fair, and its taken me many years to work it to its present state. It is still quite unfinished and will probably take several more years before its complete. I decided to use the art for this blog because the fair so clearly represented the era of growing monopolies and big buisness. Many of the big tycoons were represented at the fair, Carnegie, Edison, McCormick, Krupps, and many others. So the setting fit the monopoly theme.

Closing Day

"MONOPOLY City Streets has officially ended! Thank you to everyone - all 5 million of you from across the world - who played during the past three months. It has been absolutely amazing.

We're currently collecting all the data from the game so that we can share with you a few results. Please check back in a few days." Hasbro Statement
Well here we are at the end, Sometime today it all comes to a close, the streets will be swept, the leaderboards cleared. It was an interesting experience, and we've all met people along the way.
Our precious hard won streets reside empty and alone in data land. For all the various problems we've found this game fun, captivating, and sometimes exciting. Most gamers would say it was lame, perhaps it was, but it allowed you to set your own pace, when building, selling, and trading. We will likely see this game again soon, hopefully in a more enhanced form, with heartier street search, tighter rules and less taxes and penalties. Thank you all for visiting our blog, we hope you had fun visiting, playing games and discussing game play. Good luck to all hope you've reached your goals.
